The Kreissparkasse Stade (county-bank) bought the villa in 1995, which was owned built by the Landrat Alexander von der Schulenburg and later by the agriculturist Johan G.D. von Issendorff. Once the extensive renovation work was over, it was opened up to the public as a cultural centre and serves as the local community library.

The Kulturkreis Himmelpforten has its seat in the villa and has made it its mission to enrich Himmelpforten's culture scene. It uses the lecture hall, which has 70 seats among others for picture exhibitions. Every year, the whole ground floor serves as an art and crafts market.

Family von Issendorff's former dining room was converted to a historic marriage chamber, which gives a wedding a unique ambiance.
